VTO Brickwork Support System - a Tekla Custom Component

VIDEO: Short demo of the component, how to download and install.

Brick lintels are a load-bearing element in a building carrying bricks over doors, windows or suspending the masonary on brackets. Danish company VTO - Vils Tegloverliggere A/S manufactures brick lintels, brick beams, brick elements as well as brackets and other steel and concrete solutions. This Tekla custom component simplifies design and ordering of products for VTO’s customers.

Tekla has been used by customers of VTO for years, but up until now it has been difficult to find the right bracket to support the project's lintels, both in terms of size, type and location and to incorporate that into the BIM models.

VTO hired BuildingPoint Scandinavia to help speed up the process of using their products in the BIM models, and ordering of the parts. To achieve this we created a Tekla Custom Component.

IMAGE: Help menu that is accessible in Tekla when using the custom component.

The component makes it easy to insert support brackets into the model and choose the right solution for the construction. An order list is automatically generated and so you can sendt this to VTO - Vils Tegloverliggere A/S.

  • Input: Components that shows the real geometry of the brackets and enables you to easily inset them into the model.

  • Output: Objects you can show on drawings, and an orderlist you can send to the manufacturer with amount and order number.

Installation

You need to have a valid Tekla Structures license for Tekla version 2020 and up. The component is otherwise free.

Watch the video on this page to se how to download it from Tekla Warehouse, and then install it. It is easily installed as an TSEP extension. If installing into an excisting model, then remember to restart Tekla Structures after installing!
